Appointments

How easy is it to get an appointment?

When your child is sick, we do our best to see them on the day you contact us. Availability of well-child visits vary by doctor. In general, late summer appointments are a bit more difficult to schedule, as many try to schedule well-child appointments prior to the start of school.

How do we get help when the office is closed?

Since pediatric nurses can answer most questions, we've partnered with The Children's Hospital After-Hours Nurses Line to take your calls when our office is closed. If you or the advice nurse determines that you need to speak with a doctor, your call will be forwarded to our doctor on-call. In case of an emergency, please call 911.

At what hospitals do you admit patients?

We see newborns at Rose Medical Center, Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center, and St. Joseph's Hospital. We refer most of our sick children to The Children's Hospital.

How do we contact you when our baby is born?

Let the hospital staff know that your pediatrician is one of our doctors. They will notify us when your baby is born. Our doctors see newborns in the hospital daily prior to coming into the office at 8:30am. If your baby is delivered at a hospital other than those listed above, call us to make an appointment for your baby to be seen within two days of his/her discharge.

What is the routine visit schedule after my baby is born?

Usually, we see newborns two to three days after discharge to check that feedings are going well, your baby is gaining weight and skin color is good. Many problems are easily resolved if caught early.

The next visit is between one and two weeks of age when they undergo a full physical and we repeat the Colorado Newborn Screen. The next physical, along with immunizations, will be at two months of age. We may need to see your baby for additional visits if there are issues that need to be monitored more closely.

If you have a concern about your baby at any time, do not hesitate to call us.
